Multiple boxes & bulk parcels

Several boxes should be organised as one shipment workflow — not guessed as one total.

Megway can help you prepare multiple parcels for the same destination, keeping each box measured correctly while making the overall shipment easier to manage.

Practical local support

Understand the job before choosing the service.

Multiple-box shipments are common for relocations, student moves, ecommerce dispatch, event stock and business consignments. The key is to keep the shipment organised at package level: Box 1 may be 18 kg and 60 × 40 × 40 cm while Box 2 may be 11 kg and 45 × 35 × 30 cm. Combining those into one rough figure can produce the wrong service or price.

Where a suitable courier supports multi-piece shipping, several packages can be associated with one consignment while each carton keeps its own label, weight and dimensions. On other services, each parcel may need to be booked separately. Megway can help identify the appropriate workflow available locally.

For international movements, the customs declaration should also make sense across the whole consignment. Box numbering and an inventory make it easier to understand which categories of goods are travelling and to respond if customs or the courier asks for clarification.

What Megway can help with

More than a basic parcel transaction.

01

Individual package data

Record final weight and outer dimensions for every box rather than dividing a total weight equally.

02

Numbered cartons

Mark cartons clearly as Box 1 of 5, Box 2 of 5 and so on for your own control and packing list.

03

Multi-piece services

Eligible courier products can keep several packages under a single shipment or master consignment.

04

Separate labels

Every physical parcel normally still needs its own scannable label even when it belongs to one multi-piece shipment.

05

Consolidated customs data

International shipments need a complete customs picture across all packages, not a vague summary.

06

Consistent packing

Use cartons appropriate to their contents and reinforce any box that is heavily loaded or reused.

Process

Prepare a multi-box shipment properly

1

Pack every box first

Final weights and dimensions should be taken after the contents, cushioning and tape are in place.

2

Number the packages

Use a simple sequence so staff and the customer can identify each carton.

3

Measure individually

Capture length, width, height and weight for every parcel.

4

Build the contents list

For international shipments, organise item descriptions, quantities and values across the consignment.

5

Check the service limits

A courier may accept five 20 kg boxes but reject one oversized carton, so package-level limits still matter.

6

Label and retain records

Make sure every box has the correct label and keep the overall shipment reference and packing list.

Important to know

A multi-piece shipment does not override individual package restrictions. Every carton must stay within the chosen service’s size, weight, content and packaging rules. One non-compliant package can affect the whole consignment.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can Megway weigh and measure all my boxes?

Yes at participating locations with suitable equipment. Final packed measurements are more useful than estimates taken before packing.

Will all boxes have the same tracking number?

It depends on the courier. Multi-piece shipments can have a master reference plus package-level tracking numbers.

Can I send 10 or more boxes?

Potentially, depending on the service and location workflow. Larger consignments are best discussed with the location before travelling.

Can different-size boxes go together?

Often yes. They do not need to be identical, but every package must fall within the selected service limits.
